MERRY CHRISTMAS!! As an art blogger I have been wanting to GIVE more to my readers than just showing you pretty pictures. I was really inspired by another blogger to give some of my craft away… and what a better time than now. I have never done this before and as a new blogger, I am not even sure if you guys would be interested in it. But lets give it a try huh? I am going to try and do this more often if it works out.
This series of New York is a set that I did about 2 years ago. The originals are all sold, but time after time I have been asked about selling prints. So, these three 11″x14″ prints on archival paper would be a very unique gift for any funky friend or family member. All three paintings have hidden symbols and traits that are unique to the city, including logos, maps, street signs, popular building structures, sayings, and the busy atmosphere of the city. It’s a $95 value.
This is truly a unique set that has been nationally recognized by juxtapose art and culture magazine last november.
IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO PARTICIPATE IN THIS CHRISTMAS GIVE-A-WAY PLEASE FILL OUT YOUR FULL NAME, STATE, AND EMAIL OR BLOG LINK IN THE COMMENT SECTION BELOW. I WILL RANDOMLY PICK A WINNER ON WEDNESDAY DECEMBER 10TH. I am putting them in the mail on thursday december 11th in time for christmas. good luck
If you are interested in buying the NYC print set it is $95.00. Or $40.00 if sold seperately. please email firstname.lastname@example.org

Gosh its a bummer to spend your day off sick in bed. i think i might have an sinus infection.. but I am gonna try and just push through. it. I am prone to getting sinus infections. everytime i get sick it always turns into THAT. I guess i will be laying in bed on my computer today and surviving on these things here:
the blue cough drops are by far the best… the yellow ones make me feel sicker then I really am.
Brian is in California playing wedding singer (dont tell anyone i just said that). So my best friend is gone. but it might be a good thing because i need a little rest to get better…. if i knew he was around I would want to go out and play, so its better that i am getting rest. but just sitting around and resting really makes you think about stuff. like all the petty things i have to do today, and this week, and then all the stuff that gets put on the backburner comes forward and ads to the pile.. AND Then the deep level of life, dreams, ambitions, and concerns sets in…..and then i feel overwhelmed. hahaha. what a cycle.
So i come back to this decision from time to time. What do I do with MY life to benefit the kingdom? which direction do i put my full energy into?? photography, fine art, or design??? and what do i do with it?? for some reason in my head and my planning “i cant do all three. HOW would i ever market good enough for 3 things. focus it down to be most effective, PICK ONE, etc.”
I am so tired of thinking that way, but its the only way i know how. I am also tired of thinking and praying ” God show me what you want me to do, what do you want me doing with the gifts you have given me?” i pray that….. like I am not doing what God wants me doing. BUT maybe i am doing what God wants me doing at this time.
I often forget that life is a journey and that God has a life long journey for us.. not just one particular event or occupation for one period of time. I search Like i havnt found it yet, but in those default panic times, I just need to rest in him and know that I am in his plan.
Gosh i wasnt intending this post to go in the direction it did. i am surprised i kind of answered my own questions. geez. a couple verses that I go back to are:
Psalm 46:10: Be still and know that i am God; I will be exalted among the nations, i will be exalted in the earth.
Philippians 1:6: being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to complettion until the day of christ.
Cornerstone (the church I do design at) is in a series called THREAD!! i actually hand sewed the logo. hahaha. fun times. anyway, today we had a guest speaker named Mark Connelly. He talked about how the church needs to come together with their gifts to complete the body of christ. IF we are disconnected from the Body of Christ then we are a limb that is disconnected from the body, and what good is just an arm or a leg, or a body part? it can’t function to it’s full potential. That really challenged me today to think about what i am doing. I feel like I am USING my God given gifts, but what more can I be doing?? I mean just because I am already using my gifts for my job doesnt mean I cant use them in my serving time as well. I always think that “serving” means that I have to go outside of what I like or what I am good at. hahaha. that is soo silly.
I have this reoccuring idea. -and I believe maybe God has been speaking to me about this. I have tried to put it off and put it off thinking that it wouldnt work. BUt I still have a heart for art, creativity and people that would love to serve with their gifts and abilities. I would love to put together some kind of creative group (for the church perhaps) The group could meet from time to time and discuss what we could do with our talents. Maybe having an auction, selling art and donating it to a missions group or something. Or maybe taking photos of a family that cant afford family photos.
I am not sure what this would be like or where God would lead it to go. But i would like to start the dialog about what a group would look like. Maybe a website with a logo, and a store to buy art/prints at. The group would be for all visual Media arts! I even like the idea of building artists up in the community, maybe we hold classes and teach eachother and share techniques and ideas.
I am up for all kinds of feedback on this. and OR links to churches that may have done something like this before. shoot me a comment with your feedback. i am in the beginning stages with this thought and would LOVE helpful advice, ideas, feedback. thanks a ton. I would love to see this group be an energetic group that the church looks to for creativity and artistic expression.
